A few words about Rick White. I didn't know Rick that well in high school or law school. But I knew he was always interested in math and science. More on that later. I got to know Rick when we opposed each other on several cases through the years. He was always highly professional and a true gentleman. Late in Rick's career, he decided he wanted to obtain a certification in intellectual property law. For several months, he went down to Chicago once or twice a week to attend advanced law classes. After he obtained his certification, he joined a law firm in Racine and practiced patent and trademark law there. Unfortunately, he passed away from cancer at age 59. He will be missed.
